Early Intervention
Milestones are moments to enjoy, not endure. PTS Early Intervention providers are your partners in progress. Together, we help build the foundational toolbox for your child’s developmental success and allow you to confidently navigate child interaction, turning everyday moments into meaningful learning opportunities.
What is Early Intervention (EI)?
EI is a statewide program run by each county, intended to help families strengthen the multiple areas of a child’s early, natural development that occurs between birth and three years of age.
Services are at no cost to the family and take place as part of a child’s daily routine, alongside their parent or care provider and can be coordinated to be at home, daycare, or other location that is part of the child’s regular schedule.
Areas of development often supported are:
- Physical Development – motor, vision, hearing
- Cognitive Development – thinking, processing, learning
- Communication Development – speaking, listening, understanding
- Social & Emotional Development – playing, sharing, interacting with others
- Adaptive Development – eating, potty-training, dressing
You can request PTS to provide your child's EI services
What to Expect:
- Evaluation will be scheduled
- An in-depth measure of your child’s overall development determines the type of supports suggested
- If no deficit or other issues are found, services are not recommended
- If your child qualifies based on the evaluation findings, you will be asked to select a county approved provider
- Upon selection, the provider is notified and will contact you to schedule services, whether in your home or elsewhere, based on your child’s schedule
- A county service coordinator is assigned to you for assistance
PTS knows Early Intervention. Our providers and PTS staff have been involved with services for well over 30 years and are dedicated to being your partner. Positive outcomes are higher when interventions are received during this crucial stage of development.
