Teacher Appreciation Week 2025
Teacher Appreciation Week is a timely opportunity for school leaders, district administrators, and education partners to express genuine gratitude to the professionals who shape future generations.
At Pediatric Therapeutic Services (PTS), we see firsthand the impact teachers make every day. We’re committed to supporting and celebrating educators in our partnering school districts.
What Is Teacher Appreciation Week?
Teacher Appreciation Week is a nationally recognized observance that celebrates educators’ dedication, resilience, and influence. Originally recognized as a single day in 1953—thanks in part to the efforts of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt—it evolved into a full week in the 1980s through the advocacy of the National Education Association (NEA).
During this week, school communities across the country find creative ways to honor teachers, from classroom gifts and thank-you notes to school-wide events and professional development opportunities.
When Is Teacher Appreciation Week in 2025?
Teacher Appreciation Week in 2025 will take place from Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 9. National Teacher Day falls on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Marking these dates early allows schools and parent-teacher associations (PTAs) to plan events, communications, and recognition initiatives.
Why Recognizing Teachers Matters
Taking time to recognize teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week has far-reaching benefits:
1. Acknowledge Dedication
Teachers invest countless hours—often beyond their contracted time—preparing lessons, adapting instruction, supporting students, and collaborating with families.
2. Boost Morale and Retention
Thoughtful recognition contributes to a positive school climate, which can improve job satisfaction and reduce teacher burnout.
3. Build Stronger School-Community Partnerships
Involving parents, students, and local businesses in appreciation efforts strengthens connections and reinforces a culture of shared responsibility for student success.
How to Recognize Your Educators This Teachers Appreciation Week
Here are several meaningful ways to celebrate educators that can be adapted for any school size or budget:
Personalized Thank-You Notes
Encourage students and families to write letters sharing specific ways a teacher has made a difference. These notes can be compiled into a keepsake or displayed in the classroom or lounge.
Classroom Supply Care Packages
Help offset out-of-pocket expenses by providing teachers with practical classroom supplies like markers, sticky notes, hand sanitizer, and pens.
Wellness Breaks and Activities
Partner with local service providers to offer brief wellness sessions—such as yoga, meditation, or chair massages—during planning periods.
Digital Shout-Outs and Spotlights
Use school social media, email newsletters, or morning announcements to recognize teachers with short testimonials or anecdotes from students and colleagues.
How Pediatric Therapeutic Services Supports Teachers
At PTS, we believe that teacher success drives student success. During Teacher Appreciation Week—and throughout the year—we help schools move from celebration to sustained support.
The service providers who work alongside us work side-by-side with teachers to implement inclusive, practical classroom strategies to support students.
Our teams create practical materials teachers can integrate into daily routines. These can include tools for sensory regulation, behavior management, and communication skills so students have the support they need and teachers can focus on their curriculum.
